Nature observation
- Choose one nearby tree and observe it without removing living parts.
- Compare two fallen leaves, cones, or small pieces of bark found on the ground.
- Draw the tree’s crown shape and record the season.
Home & classroom ideas
- At home, read a short Chipik passage before a family walk.
- In preschool or kindergarten, use an activity as a conversation guide rather than a test.
- Outdoors, create a tree-observation record with drawings and verified labels.
Tree-identification guidance
Begin with several clues together—crown, leaves or needles, bark, seeds or cones, habitat, and season. Decorative character artwork should never be used as the only identification source.
Suggested reading order

- Continue with a real-tree observation at home, school, or on a walk.
- Introduce each new tree only when its story and learning materials are released.
